In the framework of the NEEDS project and in partnership with the OSCE/ODIHR and ENEMO, MEMO 98 organized a
Domestic Observers Forum for Europe in Bratislava on 11 – 15 December 2006. The Theme of the Forum was
“The Use of IT in the Electoral Process and the Implications for Election Observation Methodology”. The key objectives were to identify current practices across the OSCE region in using IT in the electoral process, standards for the usage of IT and strategies observer groups can employ to effectively observe these. MEMO 98 is a partner organization in the NEEDS project which exists to further develop the capacity of the EU and civil society organisations in partner countries to conduct credible and effective election observation and democracy assistance. Full details on NEEDS are available on the website
www.needs-network.org.
Representatives from a selection of countries from across the OSCE region were invited to participate in this forum (see the list of participants).
